Hi Mayank, I am not sure about your background but I will dry to deep dive as much as possible.
For Industries like PE, IB, VC you need to have two things:
1. You need to have good academic and co-curricular credentials.
2. You need to show your interest in these fields by participating in related events.
Now to get into these firms in backend roles you can try directly after graduation. Banks like JP Morgan hire people at entry-level after graduation. For VC firms, you can start working as interns in small stage VC which will help you in gaining experience and would help you when you are applying for roles. To get into VC roles, you need to have strong knowledge of the startup space and terminologies related to it, current knowledge of web 3.0 would be a big plus since a lot of VC's are very bullish about this space.
Incase you have a desire to get into front end roles, you need to have an MBA from top tier B-Schools and you can then get to interview with the big league firms. Best of luck for the future.
I've interviewed at various VC funds (sector agnostic as well sector specific) and my friends have some IB full time offers in hand, the common trait between all of them has been the fact that each and every one of them had a strong inclination in Finance and Business, and had a story that can back their interests... In case of the top VC funds recruitment in India, most of the people had a tier 1 undergrad (MBA would help massively), with a keen interest in startups and what's happening around the nation in that space. You can be well aware of facts and figures if you follow a couple newsletter and go through them diligently. Background in Consulting will aid you job search if you're smart enough to use it..... As far as IB is considered, most of the front office bulge bracket recruitment happens on-campus at the best B-schools of the nation (IIM ABC, ISB plus a few others). That's the path with the least resistance. You could also try and break into a mid/back office and leverage that experience to get into a front office role at tier 1 banks (GS/JPMC/MS etc).... An important note about getting a job in the above mentioned fields is that the number of applications are so damn high, it becomes extremely difficult for you to land an offer even if you have done everything right in terms of the technicals. However, try to network with the people who're at a place where you want to be, and you'll experience a gradual increase in the number of opportunities you encounter. Hope that helps; feel free to drop more questions here!
