Hi Anant. Things to be kept in mind while choosing a career in Journalism are:
Good communication skills are essential: A person should have the proper hold on the language he or she is specializing in or is comfortable with. For any local news office, you need to know the language quite well. You can’t speak casually and you should sound professional and serious.
The skill of a foreign language can actually help out a lot. It will also help getting a job or can add extra credit because journalists travel places and if they know a language of a certain region then it adds a spike.
There is a lack of knowledge about the array of jobs available in this field. One can not only be the reporter, anchor or editor or just a writer journalist. There are a lot of sub-editing and other jobs that are available in Journalism.
There is an ethical code of conduct in this particular line. There are a lot of rules regarding attribution and coverage of the information. One thing that can set you apart from the other journalists is your accuracy and how much you are able to write truths.
