Being a fresher, I suggest you to first research about what Product Managers do and understand why this career path is good for you. A PM should be a great problem solver, data driven, good with stakeholder management, have a design sense and more importantly, be very customer empathetic. You must attend some workshops or interactive bootcamps that would hone these skills, introduce you to the role and help you think like a PM. Being a CS grad, you might have a slight upper hand as PMs are also expected to have some understanding of technology. Be thorough with books such as ‘Cracking the PM Interview’ and ‘Decode and Conquer’ or any other resources to familiarise yourself with metrics, UI/UX methodologies, frameworks and the kinds of questions asked in interviews. When you feel ready, apply strategically to internships and entry level PM roles with a resume that focuses not just on past internship or college experience but the impact that they created. Good referrals also go a long way, so connect with your college alumni or reach out to folks in your network to help you connect with Product teams.
